I went to Suntrap school in Hayling island , I remember Mr Combes my class teacher he was an excellent teacher I enjoyed his class very much . My best friends were Linda Grover and Susan Whitfield. I remember in the 1960s a little shop in Greenfield road run by Captain and Mrs Delano Osborne. I only vaguely remember the Captain, he died about 1957, but his wife carried on and died in 1969. My Grandfather used to supply them with tobacco and confectionary for the shop. Mrs Osbourne was often at my Grandparents house on Sundays for lunch. Another mystery I would like to solve. My g. Grandad married a housemaid of his, by the name of Blanche Lewis after his first wife Alice Maria Jackman died. She had a few children of her own as well as stepchildren from the marriage. A son called ephraim Lewis, daughter Blanche, others unnamed.i did hear when my g.grandad died she moved in with a retired policeman. Does anyone remember anything. This was in the 1940’/50s.

I too lived in Evelyn Ave at No51 my Grandparents house. Also I was born in Evelyn Ave in the midwifes house. After 74 yrs I am unable to remember the number (in the 40s I think).

I was born in Queenswood avenue and went to Collingwood girls school in 1953 which was then situated in Stanley Park road. The headmistress was Mrs Hollis and the discipline was very strict at that time but did me no harm at all and left me with happy memories apart from the school dinners which left me with a lifelong hatred of butter beans and blancmange! I moved to Beltinge in 1948 with my parents and we lived at number 8 Churchill Avenue. At that time the avenue was a prefab estate and was a baby boomer child's heaven -,and there were plenty of us. I remember visiting my mums family with great fondness, having spent time with my grand parents, Anni and Seth Ockton still brings a smile to my face, and I talk to my grand children, and tell them about them, and how times have changed. I was there from 1948-1955. Remember many staff: "Slugger" Watson -brilliant languages teacher, Mr. Day, Mr. Dakin, Mr Shepherd, Mr. Grainger -never got on with him, Mr. Davis, Mr. Pugh, Peter Cork -who I remained in contact with until his death in 2012. I remember staying here in 1959/1960 where my friend Mig had moved to. I lost touch and would love to know about her. We had a wonderful holiday together in Perranporth Cornwall. We actually got lost one night and were so relieved when we found our way back to the Golf Club where we were staying in a log cabin.We worked together briefly at the Economist 1959-1960. My husband was in REME and came to Bordon on courses back in 1964/65. We lived on 2 occasions on Pine Trees Caravan Park. Myu son was only 6 weeks old when we moved into a very basic caravan with no running water and a toilet block to share with other families. I used to live in Lacton Hall as a boy back in the days, early 1970's. I was a resident of the Caldecott Community of which Lacton Hall was an annex. I remember creasoting the fences in this picture for 3 old pence per fence which was awesome pocket money at the time..
I attended St. Michael's School in the 1960's and have a vivid memory of a play that we performed on the grounds one year. Our parents were invited to the performance of "Helen of Troy"..... I had the part of Helen....a non- speaking part! I remember my father in the front row snoring loudly during my entrance to the stage and couldn't contain my giggles! I remember walking down from Thorndale cottages on the old flint road taking a jug to be filled with ale for my grandfather Joseph Frank Brown and grandma May Brown and Miss Wheeler who lived next door no 3, happy memories
I remember the walkway between Whitton Road and Hanworth road which ended opposite Bell Road. There was a greengrocer stall about halfway along the alley, i was often sent up to get some veg with my mums string bag lined with a sheet of newspaper to put potatoes in. I was born in 1941 in the Maternity Home in Honeypot Lane. We lived at 595 Kenton Road just opposite the Church where we went to Sunday School and Brownies. There was a garage on the corner, opposite a row of shops and waste ground before you got to Kingsbury Circle and the shops. worked at parker timber in the 60s remember Alderman Busby one of the directors, Mr Isham known as Mac, Jack Richardson, who worked in the yard, Malcolm who drove the fork lift, Brian Green who worked in the office with Peter Barlett Berry who was a great tennis player Had some interesting times there.
Attended Bookham Primary school.The headmaster was Mr Brown.Pupils included the Walker Smiths managers son and the Lloyds bank managers son. It was a small village in those days.My grandparents lived in church cottages in church road and I lived in middlemead road.

My great-grandmothers house was built on the land on Greensward Lane which was sold during the great land sales in 1907. I remember all the stories about the dirt roads gradually being upgraded, and gas lighting being replaced by electricity. Anyone have any stories or photos of how everything developed during the early 1900's?
I lived here in 1959 with my Parents and my older brother my sister Ann was born in this house. I do not remember living here as I was only 2 years old. I am tracing my family tree and I cannot find this cottage on Google maps. I think the name may have changed, is there anyone out there that can help me out to find this.

The gentleman in this photo is my grandfather Mr James William Arthur Reffold late of the Pump house that lays to his left behind the shop.the horses name is Jimmy he was a large ginger horse.

I'm Elizabeth Eddy lived at 10a Maple grove memories of train line at back of house and great west rd factories sisters Jessie and Phyllis brother Bob went to Marlborough primary then Spring grove central, went to mission on Sunday anyone else remember the place I was born in 1951 enjoyed walks in syon park . Are you sure that's right? I lived in St Leonards (next door to Hastings) for several years, from about 1945 to 1955 and the front was always called the Promenade. But perhaps it was different back in 1925?? We lived in Blomfield Road, with a public garden opposite that was a wonderful place for us kids. When I went back down Memory Lane in the early 2000s I was sad to discover the park had been replaced by housing.

I too went to Hounslow town Junior school from age 7, then on to Bulstrode Girls School. Mrs Collins was head teacher. We had Mrs Johnstone for geography, Mrs Davies for English , Mrs Balls for history, miss Hull for science, Mrs Humphreys for sewing. Hi My name is Karen, I was born in 1962 in guys hospital and lived in a top floor flat in Gloucester Grove with my mum and Dad Doreen and Terry Stevens. I have just stumbled upon this site and have spent a few happy hours reading memories of Little Sutton, here are a few of my own.
My brother, Edward (known then as Teddy) Johnson, and myself, Sharon, lived in Hawthorn Road. I remember the Tennis Club on Spring Gardens (i think) The Bowyers lived in Spring Gardens, our neighbours were the Lowes and the Bromleys.

"The little wooden hut next to the pub ,might have been Peter Manning's paper shop, but the "other wooden hut adjoining it was a chip shop when I was a kid and Mr. Ainley had it then. He also had a tiny little place where you could take your chips and eat them and sit at a table, out of the cold and the rain!

My family have come from Southend on Sea since the early 1800s, there name is Cass, one of my 7 auntie's Ivy Cass was the cashier on the Golden Hind it was open 364 days a year and only closed on Christmas day. I went to Downhills central school 1966 .This joined with Belmont school and became the new comprehensive school disappointingly.Then a name change to William Forster school even more disappointing!I remember the Rioyal dancehall!

Does anyone remember Miss Edge headmistress of Staining school , Mrs. Bray took the middle classes and Mrs. Dickson was in the infant room. I don't know how old Miss Edge was but to me she seemed VERY old. I had the cane from her twice for small misdemeanours. I previously wrote regarding my family being evacuated to South Petherton during the second world war, i have one living relative left who has unfortunately got dementia but he still remembers his time as a boy in the village, he says he stayed in Cleals Cottages ? which i believe have since been demolished, is there anybody who remembers where those cottages were situated please ? I was evuacuated from London to stay with my aunt in Clayton West in 1944 my uncle was the blacksmith. I had four cousins whose families probably still live in the area. I have good memories of my stay there and intend to visit this year. My name is John Luke
My maternal grandfather, his siblings and parents lived in Evesham from the late 1890s. My GGrandfather was stationmaster in Evesham His name was John Hall Seal. They lived at 8 Market Square then moved to new houses on Cambria Road. My grandfather was a triplet and they all survived. His triplet brother died in WW1 in France in 1918. I would be interested to know if any family still live in the Evesham area as my Grandfather moved to Birmingham and never returned as far as I am aware
Dad was at Hadrian's camp with the East Lancs. in the late 40's. we lived there & my sister was born in Carlisle in 1949. we also lived for a while in Moss Band. I dont know if there was an army camp there I was just a toddler. We emigrated to Australia on 1953
I Thomas Eskdale lived at castle park i had good time there,there was the burns,thomsons,massy,s if you lived in castle park you will know all that lived there from the 1950 and 1960.
I am trying to find the name of the old school at the top of NUXLEY ROAD opposite ALL SAINTS CHURCH. I believe it was a School until the Police Station arrived in the 1960's

One of the self-closing 'kissing gates' where the watercourse from under the Cattle Arch (St Helen's Grove) reaches the Trent. All the riverside land was owned by Nottingham Corporation (Stoke Farm or Bulcote Farm) back then but now Severn-Trent, I believe. A favourite walk, for many, along the bank of the river.
I am the Great Great Grandson of John William Cousins and Esther Ellen Brown. They lived in Low Lanes and in North Halls at one point. Their daughter Martha (Dot) was my Great Gran. Does anyone have any memories/photographs of the Cousins family?
I was there late 60's and it was terrible cried every night and hated it,during the night I used to think there was a man in a big black cape going on all the beds one by one like Dracula and wasn't till I was an adult thast I thought maybe it was some kind of sexual assault on innocent kids x
I went to old Harlow College during the war. I remember walking across the fields to Harlow Mill where us boys used to swim. It was a very strict college with prefects. It was run on the style of the Cambridge University. I was what they called a fag ie I looked after one of the prefix. My family have lived in Peckham for over 60 years, and originally lived in Sunwell Street. My father, uncle and aunts attended John Donne and later Peckham Manor and Peckham Girls respectively. My dad used to tell me how great Peckham used to be and how magical christmas was at Jones & Higgins. It'd be nice to hear from anybody who knows or remebers us.
Oh my gosh. I remember Ms. Knapton and her dog pickles. I wish I had something pleasant to say about her, but I don't. She gave me the cane six times on my right hand because of skipped school one afternoon. Not very nice.

My Gran owned a corner shop 1960-1970's in Ebbw Vale. I believe is it now a power station for National Grid. I would love more information about this shop.

My mum owned Fords Fruit and Greengrocers in Nolton Street and my dad owned Bridgend Driving School. I’d love to hear from anyone who knew my parents.
We used to have regular dance nights but these were conducted with a record player playing 78's. I was born in Denbigh in 1939 in a house named Parc y Twll near the entrance to the Denbigh Hospital. We moved next door to St Davids which is at the entrance. My father worked at the Hospital and I spent my childhood roaming the grounds and the wonderful farm the hospital owned and ran nearby. Before Louis Behrens built Porthenalls during WWI, on promontory in front of Coastguard Cottages (to right of Cliff Cottage shown), musta been where the Carters the smugglers had large thatched house (shown in 1885 Valentines photo) but demolished by 1908. Sandor Vegh and Hilary Tunstall-Behrens established International Musicians Seminar at Porthenalls in 1972, Hilary is 90!

Hi, I have lived here, despite a short time in South Harrow , all my life. I remember so many shops , long since, gone — Sam Lee, toys and sweets, Clark’s cycles ,Coopers hardware, WH Smith, Woolworths, Pembles,newspapers, and I think there was a Home and Colonial store for foods of all sorts . Like many others I also spent summer holidays in Birchington with my Grandfather at 96, Park Avenue. I remember that the Icecream Parlour had a fairly large wooden parrot outside. We were friends with the children opposite at 111, Park Avenue, they were permanent residents and Barbara had a holiday job there. I also remember walking across the fields and over the railway line to get to Minnis Bay and, putting pennies on the tracks for the train to 'run over'. Happy days!

I remember staying at Eagle Hall in the early 70's on a pony trekking holiday with my friend. It was a fantastic place for pony mad girls! I remember the lady who owned it was Barbara Edward and she had two lively daughters who took out the rides. I think one was called Vicky but obviously it's a long time ago! Lovely to see this photo. Came upon it while looking for the walk that passes Eagle Hall and loops round through caravan park.

I was a little girl who was adopted to Cecil John Keeler and my first visit to Petham was as a 5yr old. My Granny Fanny keeler and had 5 sons. Dick.Ray.Ted.Cecil and Reg.Granny Keeler also had 3 daughters Daisy.Girlie and Doreen. I have great memory's of farnborough in the 60s I was in the Royal Engineers stationed at Cove, had a girlfriend that lived in Melrose Avenue the road opposite the shops shown in the photo of the shops on the Pyestock estate

My sister Annette and I have just been sharing memories of this place, before it become Teddys club. We got to go in there rarely but remember after the Guide Parades on Remembrance Day, having squash and crisps in there. Very exciting!
I was abused at Delamere Forest School by someone called A, he did not care who he interfered with, If it was not me then a younger girl would have been treated the same way. This happened 3 times In 1971 to 1973.
